1940 Audi-Inspired Crossover Concept: A Fusion of Elegance and Innovation
Designing a crossover concept car in 1940 with the elegance and minimalist appeal of Audi was a fascinating challenge. At the time, automotive design was still rooted in grandiose, somewhat excessive lines, but I wanted to create something clean and forward-looking. Drawing inspiration from Audi's precision engineering, I aimed to merge a futuristic, high-tech aesthetic with the sleekness of pre-war luxury cars, focusing on subtle curves, a streamlined body, and a refined grille that would fit seamlessly into this new genre.
The goal was to strike a balance between sophistication and practicality, ensuring the design embodied the minimalist approach typical of Audi's modern approach. By incorporating the graceful proportions of Audi's sedans and the rugged nature of a crossover, I introduced a sense of elegance that could cross into both the luxury and utility space. The proportions of the vehicle were intentionally elongated, with a low roofline that gives the car a dynamic profile. The lines are subtle but purposeful, with high-tech elements woven into the design, from the rear lights to the cabin structure, creating a car that would have stood out in any era.
